Unveiled: New sign manufactured by CompoClay

Come see the unveiling of the Willow Station Sign, still looking the same but now recast in an eco-friendly, durable material by Alameda’s own CompoClay. The ceremony will be held July 28, 5:30pm, outside of Acapulco Restaurant at 2104 Lincoln Ave. Music and Refreshments. Appetizers generously provided by Acapulco Restaurant.

The sign replacement project is a joint undertaking by the City of Alameda and the Greater Alameda Business Association. All seven of Alameda’s historic Train Station signs are being replaced and the Willow Station has been selected to anchor the debut of the new signs.

“CompoClay” is an eco-friendly material, mainly made of minerals, water and sand. It has the ability to emulate everything from wood and metal to concrete and pottery without sacrificing safety and durability. The new sign pictured at right is expected to last for generations; the previous sign lasted only 10 years. Read the rest of this entry »
