Tell the World about Your Favorite Park Street Businesses

Want to help your favorite local business get more customers, or help your friends and neighbors discover new places in the Park Street District? A new trend has been happening world-wide and it’s called Review Wednesday. The idea is to help spread the word about favorite small businesses.

Here’s how it works:

  • During the week, visit a small business like a restaurant, beauty salon, clothing store, chiropractor, etc. Something you probably do anyway.
  • Each Wednesday, take 5 minutes and write a review about the business on Google, Yahoo, CitySearch, Urban Spoon, or one of the other online review sites. One of our favorite local business directories is Alameda Patch (www.AlamedaPatch.com), which welcomes reviews, photos, and announcements.

It’s that simple! And leaving just one review for an independent business can help them immensely in terms of improving their reputation and getting them more visibility in the local search engines.

But if you like contests, the folks at GetListed.org have added a contest layer where each Twitter user who initiates a “Review Wednesday Tweet” will be entered to win a gift certificate to the business, or a donation to the charity, of their choice. Check out the Review Wednesday page on www.GetListed.org for contest details, example reviews, and example tweets.

So the next time you have a good experience at one of the Park Street District’s restaurants, shops, service places, or business offices, we hope you will take a moment to share your praises with the online community.

But why wait for Wednesday? You can help your favorite businesses by writing a review any day of the week.
