This week’s happenings in the Park Street Business District: View Calendar
We hope you enjoyed the Park Street Classic Car Show this past Saturday. It was another terrific day… lots of sun and lots of vintage cars of all types in Alameda’s downtown district! If you missed the show, photos are posted here: http://photobucket.com/classiccarshow2012
There’s always something happening in the Park Street Business District. Here are a few special events from this week’s calendar:
We’re proud to announce that Lucky Ladies’ Desiree Salas and Jennifer Serr have merged design forces and opened a business together in the Park Street Business District. “The Sewing Room & Style Lounge“ is located at 2434 Webb Ave.
Proprietresses Desiree Salas and Jennifer Serr invite you to join them in celebrating their grand opening in style!… Food, fashion, drinks, and a designer trunk show.
“The Sewing Room” is where you can attend workshops taught by Jennifer Serr. Classes are available for both adults and children — a fun idea for girls’ night out or sewing camp.
“The Style Lounge” is women’s boutique that sells vintage-inspired clothing by designer Desiree Salas. Tee-shirts, accessories and sewing notions by Bonjour Teaspoon are also provided. You can try on dresses and skirts, and shop for my handmade items.
Desiree and Jennifer have everything in store to get you Fabulous for Fall!
(P.S. – You can “Like” them on Facebook to hear about their monthly Sewing Jam night, trunk shows, events and workshops.)

Rock the Vote! at Silk Road
Saturday, Oct 20, 12:00-4:00pm
As Americans, we have the right to vote. Sadly, most people don’t utilize that right. In the 2008 election, only 56.8% of eligible voters actually voted. As Vernon Dahmer said, “If you don’t vote, you don’t count.”
This year Silk Road (1412 Park Sreet) wants to try to help increase those numbers by hosting a Rock the Vote Voter Registration Drive on October 20, from Noon to 4:00pm. Enjoy complimentary coffee and snacks, learn about the propositions, the candidates, and the issues. More importantly, exercise one of your greatest rights as an American.
The last day to register for the November Election is October 22.

Giant Pumpkin Contest (for Kids)
Deadline: October 27
Bring your kids, ages 3-12, to Dan’s Fresh Produce (2300 Central Ave) to guess the weight of a giant pumpkin. If your child guesses the correct weight, you could win the pumpkin and be the pride of the neighborhood.
There are three different pumpkins for three different age groups.
