The Child Unique Montessori School & Montessori Elementary School of Alameda (MESA) presents:
“The Dawning of the Summer of the Creative Child”
The Child Unique Montessori School celebrates three decades of excellent, community-oriented, student-driven education. Their unique summer program harnesses the excitement of education with their renowned thematic camps: SPACE! (including a visit from representatives of NASA), Kyoto Camp (experience Japan), Culinary Academy, Photography/Art Camp, and much, much more!
If you are looking for a fun and unique summer program for your child, look no further. The following is a list of this year’s exciting themed summer camps…
Lights! Camera! Action! (June 17 – July 5) Young actors learn the basics of character development, improvisation, group work, and script analysis. Children also create costumes, props, and sets for their performance.
Space Camp (July 8 – July 19) The Child Unique Montessori School’s signature camp is back and it’s an out-of-this-world experience! Campers aged 2-7 will enjoy a visit from a NASA Ames Research Center representative at the school. Campers will learn exactly how the NASA astronauts get ready for their mission and flight to the international space station and their return home — they will have an opportunity to try on a real space suit, play with objects from the space station and shuttle orbiters, munch on tasty space food, and conduct far-out space experiments. Campers will also be provided with numerous opportunities to explore the solar system and beyond by creating planets, constellations, spaceships, and other astronomical phenomena.
Kyoto Camp (July 22 – August 2) Even if you cannot visit Japan, your child can surround themselves with Japanese culture at Kyoto Camp. Campers participate in a Japanese tea ceremony, practice calligraphy, create origami, and learn to cook traditional Japanese food.
Photography/Art Camp (August 5 – August 16) Albert Einstein once said, “Creativity is intelligence having fun.” While attending the Institute of Creativity (alias Photography/Art Camp), all age campers learn how to operate a camera and greatly improve the quality of their photographs, as well as explore various medium to paint and sculpt.
The Culinary Academy (August 19 – August 30) The best way to end summer is with a feast, and The Culinary Academy will provide plenty! The staff at The Child Unique Montessori School will transform your children into master chefs as well as masters of creative mathematics as they learn to measure, chop, grate, knead, and fold. Campers also have many opportunities to garden for the freshest ingredients in their food, as well as visit neighborhood food establishments for that singular taste of Alameda.
MESA – Montessori Elementary School of Alameda:
New Elementary School Program Enters its Second Year
It doesn’t have to end with summer programs. Creativity continues with the three campuses in Alameda, full of students who emerge not only ready to learn, but as established learners and critical thinkers who combine their knowledge with a view toward improving the world. Children learn differently and, for over 25 years, the work at The Child Unique Montessori School has been to continuously adapt to a child’s evolving style of education. Offering programs built on real-world validation of theories with a focus on culture and respect, the school fully embraces the Montessori philosophy of fostering a thirst for knowledge and combining it with out-of-the-box thinking to discover unique solutions.
Montessori education has expanded in Alameda with the addition of MESA – Montessori Elementary School of Alameda (an extension of The Child Unique Montessori School). MESA involves the academic rigor of core subjects, an emphasis in writing, critical thinking, public speaking and the arts, character development, leadership, and responsibility to self and community. A small class, representative of blended grades, allows for attention and innovative, non-traditional emphasis unmatched in many typical school settings.
The Child Unique Montessori School holds an A+ BBB Rating and was voted Best of the Bay by KRONTV in 2010 and Best Preschool by Alameda Magazine in 2012. With three campuses located in Alameda, The Child Unique is dedicated to helping young children of varying ages develop a love of learning, strong self-esteem, and respect for all people of the world. The EncinalSchool located just off Park Street at 2226 Encinal Avenue caters to 3-7 year olds (preschool through first grade) who are ready for a full school program.
