This week’s happenings in the Park Street Business District: View Calendar
Discover the creative life of the Bay Area the second Friday of each month. The galleries, clubs, and restaurants that make Alameda and Jingletown a lively and cosmopolitan destination welcome you to 2nd Friday Art Walks, also known as Estuary Art Attack. Take in some of the most exciting, beautiful, and challenging contemporary art from the bay area and beyond.
Start your 2nd Friday Art Walk experience at any of the participating venues in Alameda’s historic Park Street Business District. As you stroll from venue to venue, you’re invited to partake in light refreshments and wine at many of the galleries. But be sure to end your evening with dinner or a cocktail at one of the trendy coffee houses, bars, or restaurants located in Alameda’s vibrant downtown area.
Artist receptions abound on 2nd Fridays along with live music, DJ’s, performance art, and film screenings, alongside a rotating schedule of amazing visual art. Although 2nd Friday Art Walks happen only once a month, most exhibits remain in place until the next event — contact the galleries regarding their schedules.

popUp Gallery presents: Abundance
Autobody Fine Arts, 1517 Park Street
The artists in this exhibit pose questions about how – and, perhaps more importantly, by whom – “abundance” is defined. The exhibit offers widely differing views on the theme, including fantastic scenes of adventures with donuts, strangely wonderful pastries, and paintings inspired by infinitely elegant microscopic organisms. But there are also maps that chart the global vastness of self-indulgence and haunting reminders of those who do not share in the wealth – those for whom abundance is just a dream and hunger is their reality.
