A simple donation can have a profound impact in saving lives. Hospital demand for blood has increased significantly this past year and there is a shortage of all blood types. Each week, Blood Centers of the Pacific need at least 8,000 donors to meet the needs of patients in our community.
“Many people suffer needlessly because of lack of their type of blood,” says Rose Chastain, Marketing/Promotions Manager for the Downtown Association. “Community coming together makes a difference in the needless suffering. Most often when you donate, blood goes to a large geographic area — this one serves the local community.”
There is no substitute for human blood. If patients lose blood from surgery or injury or if their bodies can’t produce enough, there is only one place to turn—volunteer blood donors.
For over 75 years, Blood Centers of the Pacific has been providing the critical link between blood donors and local patients in-need by providing blood to more than 50 hospitals throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. More than 50,000 patients annually receive the gift-of-life through the generosity of community donors.
Blood Centers of the Pacific is grateful to partner with the Alameda Elks and Downtown Alameda businesses to achieve their lifesaving mission of providing an adequate and safe blood supply to meet the health and safety needs of the public.
Help save lives and enjoy Taco Tuesday at the Elks Lodge!
