Clean Water Action is teaming up with the City of Alameda to persuade 100 businesses to go packaging free!
Are you a community member that is passionate about reducing packaging, waste, and litter so commonplace in food service these days? Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity to make a real difference in your community and the environment?
If so, Clean Water has a groundbreaking grant funded project ReThink Disposable: Unpackaging Alameda that is looking to train a team of volunteer Ambassadors to be representatives and support this project’s success in Alameda.
Join the team and gain valuable work experience and community organizing skills. ReThink Disposable Ambassadors will earn prizes and awards!
Sign up for the first training meeting here.
Hope to see you there! Please register or email questions to Samantha Sommer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Note: This is a two-part training series and both meetings are mandatory. We hope you can join us for the scheduled sessions but, if you really can’t make it, we will organize a follow-up training schedule in October.
About the ReThink Disposable: Unpackaging Alameda
Clean Water is taking-on single use products: from shopping bags, to food and beverage packaging, to plastic water bottles. Their goal is to minimize the use of single-use products.
To help food businesses reduce waste, the city and the Downtown Alameda Business Association have partnered with ReThink Disposable, a project of environmental nonprofit Clean Water Fund. Businesses can receive free assistance and financial support to implement best practices for reducing disposable and litter prone packaging. The program saves the average small food business $5,000 in packaging costs by reducing disposable waste.
Have a favorite restaurant that you eat at often using too many disposables?
Ask them to sign up for ReThink Disposable, a free technical assistance program that helps businesses implement voluntary best management practices to reduce waste and cut costs by minimizing disposable product usage.
