The merchants in Downtown Alameda appreciate your support and would like to honor YOU, our valued customer. As a special thank you, we’re hosting a “Customer Celebration Day” on Saturday, September 24.

We invite you to take a stroll through Alameda’s historic downtown district for a day of fun. Participating businesses will be offering free giveaways, prizes, and special discounts. Plus, enjoy a variety of entertainment and activities on the sidewalks from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

So plan on visiting your favorite shops, restaurants, and services on Customer Celebration Day… and maybe even discover some new places along the way. Over 50 businesses will be participating!

Here’s a small sample of special activities:
* 10:00am-11:00am – Free Coffee and Tea Tasting @ Julie’s Coffee & Tea Garden
* 11:00am-12:00pm –  Complimentary Croissants @ C’era Una Volta
* 11:00am-2:30pm – Meet the Minions – Photo Op @ Cinema Grill
* 2:00pm-4:00pm – Free Sangria Wine Tasting @ Bonne Vie Beer Wine & Fine Cigars
* 4:00pm-6:00pm – Free Face Painting @ Tucker’s Ice Cream

We invite you to stroll through Alameda’s historic and vibrant downtown district to visit your favorite shops, restaurants, and services. Enjoy the entertainment and activities on the sidewalks and maybe even discover some new places along the way.

For a chance to win a wonderful assortment of gift certificates and goodies from local businesses, be sure to stop by our information table at 1419 Park Street (in front of Park Street Plaza) to enter the FREE DRAWING. The grand prize is valued over $250!

Plan Your Visit

While exploring the shops and restaurants in Downtown Alameda you can enjoy musical entertainment, vintage fashion shows, jewelry demonstrations, and belly dancers. Plus, you can enjoy free treats along the way…

  • 10:00-11:00am, Start your stroll with a free cup of coffee or tea at Julie’s Coffee and Tea Garden.
  • Noon-1:00pm, When you’re ready for a break, find your way to C’era Una Volta for free cannoli and receive a free tote too.
  • 1:00-4:00pm, After lunch, head over to Bonne Vie for a free Prosecco tasting (21+ only).
  • 2:00-4:00pm, Don’t forget dessert — for a little family fun, stop at Twirl for a free cupcake decorating activity.

New Businesses in Downtown Alameda’s Historic Park Street District (June/July 2015)

This week’s happenings in the Park Street Business District: View Calendar

Park Street is certainly in bloom this summer with new eateries. By chance did you notice the new food places while attending this year’s Art & Wine Faire? You might agree that Downtown Alameda has become an incredible destination where you can find international fare of all flavors.

Just last week we saw the opening of a few new restaurants, from Ethiopian cuisine (Injera Restaurant) to French-inspired pastries (Crispian Bakery). In addition, a new Hawaiian restaurant (Kau Kau Corner) opened last month at 1635 Park Street serving everything from barbecue chicken to fresh poke. They have parking too. (Which reminds us… be sure to check out the new location of Thai Noodle House of Alameda. They’ve moved to a larger space but have kept the same late hours.)

Power Box Art + Customer Appreciation Day in Downtown Alameda

Come celebrate and meet the artists and sponsors who are making our city an even greater place to live! Power Box Art is Alameda’s newest public art. Kick off the unveiling with food, drink, and music at Rhythmix Cultural Center (2513 Blanding Ave) on Friday, September 12, 6:00-9:00pm.

6pm-9pm: Power Box Art Show gallery opening in K Gallery featuring work by the same artists who have wrapped their visions around Alameda’s utility transformers. This event will also include a slide show of all the art submissions.

7pm-8pm: A formal reception in the theater to acknowledge the power box artists, sponsors, and participants who made it all happen.

Congratulations to the selected artists! Emily Bonnes, Delena Britnell, Nancy Crookston, Flavia Krasilchik, Clare Rickard, Chris Rummel, Stephen Seche, Jessica Warren, and Wesley Warren. 6-year-old Lars Petersen III was selected in the student category. All artists are Alameda residents.

Take a self-guided tour! Want to view the Power Box Art in person? Maps of all 10 Power Box Art locations will be available at the kick-off celebration. Maps will also be available at many of the businesses in Downtown Alameda on Customer Appreciation Day.
